The Venue has a Coordinator...

capitaloccasions

When searching for a wedding venue, you will find that most venues have a Venue Coordinator. This is the person that will likely give you an initial tour and is who you will email with when you have questions about the venue. They are also likely the day of contact for the venue, and some may even be on site the day of the wedding. Now this is where the confusion begins when comparing a Venue Coordinator and a Wedding Coordinator.

It is very important to understand the difference between the two and how the roles play out on the wedding day. The biggest difference is the Venue Coordinator is in charge of the venue. This is their main focus and their biggest concern. To put it simply, if it doesn't have to do with the venue, it is likely not in their job description.

So, then who writes your timeline? Who lines everyone up for the ceremony? Who answers vendor questions about set up? Who helps sew a button back on your dress when it pops off? And who is going to set up and tear down all your decor? This is where the Wedding Coordinator comes into play.

While we do ensure the venue rules are being enforced, as the Wedding Coordinator our main focus is the couple and executing the events of the day. We are in charge of things like creating the timeline, setting up all decor prior to guest arrival, and lining everyone up for the ceremony. AND not to mention, we are there to ensure that if and when any hiccups arise, it is taken care of without notice. We are the go-to person to answer questions and relive any stress that is likely to come.

So, if you are looking at venues and debating whether you need a Wedding Coordinator or not, just do your research and ask questions. Make sure that you will have someone at your wedding that is going to take care of not just the big things, like setting up tables and chairs, but will also be there for things like coming up with a plan b when it decides to rain, tying napkins, and loading cars with all the decor at the end of the night.

We say it all the time, but we promise you won't regret hiring a Wedding Coordinator. So do yourself a favor and hire your new best friend to help bring your wedding dreams to reality!
